I have to say tho, you'll have better chances getting good framerates on CS:S with a clocked ATI card, instead of an Nvidia card. The game was designed with ATI rendering software in mind, and is compatible with Nvidia cards, but since it will be slightly emulating the Nvidia software, you will get slower framerates. And Nvidia specializes in PCI actually, Pengwin. That same Nvidia AGP card melted my motherboard.

ATI is overall better than Nvidia...the only reason i hadnt realized so was cuz this is my first ATI card 0.0 and teh plug & play with overall sexiness makes ATI the superior graphics processing...thing.

my server computer has an AGP radeon 9800 pro 128 meg and it run CSS on full and it also runs BF2 on high settings which no other 128 meg AGP card can do

peng.. u have an opinion based on a warrenty . the warrenty doesnt mean its any better quality.. that logic is flawed..
its just someones sat down and done the number crunchng and the number of units replaced is less than the # of new customers gained by the promotion.. thats it.. ATI could do it im sure if they wanted to .. but a year full replacement warrenty is plenty for me... i know personaly after a year its about time to buy a new video card anyways.. and if i want.. 15 bucks for 3 year extended warrenty.. which is MORE than enough..

and ATI has no reputation as being poor quality in any way, which is more than i can say for Nvidia who sucks it up from time to time.


Nvidia SLI = bottlenecked to be slower

ATI SLI = a masterpeice




Nvidia Extended desktop = Software required// limited abilitys and buged

ATI extended desktop = plug and play and powerful and perfect




Nvidia Game compatability = requires patches and fixes directed and specific card types (with the exception of games made for nvidia cards, but not all)

ATI Game Compatability = NO driver Problems, compatible with every game (including every game made for nvidia cards)

lol bongwater is a freakin GOD.
yea, i can say from first hand experience that ATI cards have no problems running games. i had graphical glitches with a good number of games when i used a gforce 6600 AGP card...and now with an ATI x700 i havent had a single problem and i can run CS:S/hl2/whatever else with the graphics cranked way up.

Hmm... I can run it just fine, and mine is 9200 series, which isn't TOO old... but definitely can't run Half Life 2. I can run UT2004 max tho, which isn't too bad, I suppose.

yea i put a 9250 256 in ashleys computer but her computer was wasnt about tremendous performance. still runs bf2 on medium though.
