Wrong. 1 gb works for most people but in performance tests it DOES make a difference having 2 gb, i read a 20+ page article on it yesterday....dont ask, i was REALLY bored. I'd find it again if i weren't so lazy.
Heres a computer i MIGHT end up getting:
Quote: | Custom Intel
2.8Ghz Pentium D 920 Dual Core 2MB with Heatsink and Fan Thermaltake SILENT 775 CL-P0092 21dBA ASUS P5ND2-SLI Deluxe (nForce 4 SLI, PCIEx, Sound, LAN, SRAID, 1394, DualDDR) 1GB (512MBx2) PC5400 DDR2 667Mhz Memory Major Brand 256MB nVidia GeForce 7300GS DDR2 PCI Express DVI/Tvout 400watt Black NZXT Trinity Classic w/side window w/2 fans (4 5.25, 4 3.5 bays) Supply included with Case Onboard LAN included Onboard Sound included Standard 1 year parts and labor

1 GB of Dual channel DDR2, extra quiet fan, dual core - Woot
Btw when, and if, i get it ill have a 200 GB HD w/ 8 mb cache at 7200 rpm and a DVD/CD burner. Also, it's motherboard has 1 gigabit ethernet

above we see a load of intel crap
number 1
Pentium D 920 - 250 buckaroos = NO
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ - $296 = YES
the 3800 X2 is FAR better than the 920
___
Thermaltake SILENT 775 CL-P0092 21dBA
-no....moves a lame 42 cfm
BUT the Tt Blue Orb is good, or a Tt Venus 12
venus 12 will fit in smaller spaces
__
ASUS P5ND2-SLI Deluxe
-OMFG 194 bucks for a fuckin Mobo? crazy
ASRock 939SLI32-eSATA2 Socket 939 ULi M1697
-why? first its $82.99 and second in Sli mode you get the FULL dual X16 unlike the mobo above which will switch to 2 8x channels in SLi, the power of the ULi north and south bridge
ok 1 GB ram i agree
___
256MB nVidia GeForce 7300GS DDR2 PCI Express DVI/Tvout - YOU ARE FUCKIN KILLING ME, THAT CARD SUCK MORE ASS THAN MY GRAND-MA
What u want is this - Nvidia 7600GT why? well it smokes the 7300, the 6800GT/GS/Ultra AND if u get 2 its almost equvilant to 2 7800GT's at a fraction of the cost only $189
____
400watt Black NZXT Trinity Classic w/side window w/2 fans (4 5.25, 4 3.5 bays - bullshit PSU, wont support the 920 very stable if u OC, also BS case
u need this
Antec Performance One P150
OR
Antec LifeStyle SONATA II
both coem with decent PSU's not generic ones, but they are not SLi ready if u want a case with an SLi ready PSU get thsi case:
Antec TX 1050b or TX 1088AMG, the AMG has a higher quality PSU and it will run dual 7600GT's
lastly im guessing ur gettin this built and not doign it ur self..stupid idea but if u do use ABS ( www.abs.com ) they dont seem to rip u off too much but best is to build your own why? because u can be the beloved AMD Opteron with its 1MB l2 cache ven in the low end
and lastly you may question my reply but i am right why? becasue i kno, why? im a member of toms hardware guide and i learn there and read more benchmarks than u do, i kno high uality compoenets, abs.com offers good quality and a high price bu ti think everythign is high sinc ei kno how to build my own PC ratehr than buy one

About the memory card - I've lived the last 6 years on a 32mb vid card and i've done just fine, this will still be a huge leap up.
The grand total for my comp is $790.00, it would be an even 700 but i wanted the $90 case. I defy you to beat that price with that high quality of components.
That also comes fully assembled accept for my HD which i'll pop in myself. Plus, free shipping and handling.
You're an AMD guy, fine, i'm an intel guy. Deal with it.
