ahem... shaders. I think the only game that could take advantage of next-gen GPUs is Ghost Recon 4. That looks like it uses more blooming than... Martha Stewart's Garden? And even then, using tons of blooming and blurr effects are kinda useless at times. So whatever advancements we make don't really add anything new, because in a year, we will be able to render graphics on retail GPUs that match Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. Then what will happen? Why, Nvidia will be bought out, and so will ATI, or they will focus on different components. In that case, if the GPU market ever sparks again, like back in the 3dfx days (very intense competition), it will need a higher-resolution LCD screen, so high-res that they burn gamma rays into your eyes. In that case, revive this thread in a year, and we will see who is the true victor of the race.
