Not much new. Nox and I still play Tribes. We try to stay on the <!> server, but sometimes we play on the Carnage server. I started to play SilkRoad Online again. |

Oh cool, I can't really play any games without extreme lag due to my Vista by Dell, it has 3gb memory, 1gb graphics(nVidia) and a 500gb harddrive at a cheap price, but vista does suck in my experience. I've tried to download SilkRoad Online but had no luck. |

I have Vista Home Premium with 3 gb of RAM. What problem are you having, other than Vista in general. ![]() |

Well, for example a game that doesn't take up ram at all, C&C: Tiberian Sun, XP and Vista will run the game, XP runs it fine(both examples are offline) with maxed graphics, and vista runs it with a little lag at minimum everything. Another game that takes up more, C&C: Generals Zero Hour. Graphics have to be all the way down, and resolution was at 800x600 for both games, I could run it on the old computer, my family computer which is XP which has 512mb memory and no graphics card and only a 80 or 160gb HD, I think its around 2,100 RPM the HD. I could run it with 1024x768 res. with all graphics completely up and all special graphics on. On my Vista, 3gb ram, 512mb graphics card, and a 500gb 7,200 RPM HD, with all special graphics off, and 800x600 resolution, as well as all graphics as low as possible with all special graphics off, it STILL had a little bit of lag, enough to irritate you having a very nice store bought desktop computer. I was talking to my brother and he had a great idea, just neither of us know how to do it and he can't remember, because he has done it to his before. He suggested I partition my massive 500gb hard drive, currently 455gb free for me to hog up with programs/applications and any games. Just the thing is, I can't get Windows XP Professional Installation for a couple of months. And when I do find out how to partition my HD I will get a couple of DVD-R's and copy my programs and such onto those along with my 4gb USB FD if needed. Then I will reboot my computer, partition the HD and put XP on the seperate partition so I can either boot up vista or XP. XP for all my gaming needs, and Vista for everything else. While I have been typing this reply, I have lost a gb of free space on my HD, and after talking to my brother about it, I check again and I have an extra gb free. In other words, I lost a gb, and then gained 2gb of free space. Also everything I have downloaded and copied from the family computer on to my computer, has taken a maximum of 35gb, but out of 455gb of total free space, I have 353gb of free space, which leaves me clueless. I have one idea and that is, I have a virus taking up a little bit more space every day, also spyware/adware and such. Note: I do not download anything that I have not downloaded before, and only the exact same things as I did on my old family computer. I don't have the Mcafee that came with my computer since it was a 30-day trial, and the fact that from comcast, Mcafee is not usuable on Vista yet, and currently without a job(I'm only 16 and I have been searching) I can't buy no firewall protection for my computer so I rarely have my internet connected to my computer. PS: I will post a topic asking for help about a partition in the appropriate Forum Index if I can't find anything about it first. |

Make sure you have the latest driver for your video card, that could be the problem. Go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and click on Graphics Drivers under Option 2. It will automattically scan your computer and determine what video card you have and what you need to download. I was talking to someone the other day, and he had a Dell, and they had a 6100 driver on a 7120 card. If you want to dual boot Vista and XP Pro, you'll have to remove Vista, then put XP on, and then put Vista back on. Vista needs a special boot.ini file which XP overrides when it installs. As for the hard drive space, I've noticed that it fluctuates. It's just Vista, not a virus. McAfee isn't that great. If you want a good antivirus program, hit me up on Xfire and I'll send you a trial of Nod32. |
