Intel vs AMD has been thoroughly discussed, how about the other big competition. In my opinion,Nvidia is better.
Nvidia:Better graphic rendering software (Intellisample 4,Ultrashadow 2,Shader Model 3,CineFX 4...) and has the ability to go SLI.It is also the only manufactuer that has a card with dual graphics processors on a single card, and it can go SLI for a total of 2ghz graphics rendering power and 1gig of video ram.
ATI: Has older rendering software, and crappier versions of its own(Zshader,Shader model 2...).They also are still working on its own version of SLI called Crossfire, which has about 1 advantage over SLI,which is you dont need 2 identical cards, but its refresh rate is limited to a headache inducing 60hz,and uses only the older cards specs on the new card.say the newer card has 12 pixel pipes and the older has 8,put them in CF and you get 2 cards with 8 pipes.ATI has the older software,so it tries to make up with higher raw power of the card.
your opinions?

Hmm... alot of older games tend to freak out on Nvidia cards. For example, back in the day, I got a Geforce 2, because my Voodoo 3 card was like totally out of date. After reinstalling everything, I tried to play Startopia. I could run it fine before using my Voodoo3, but on my Geforce 2 it kinda just crapped itself and everything engine-wise freaked it, and CTDs happened every 20 minutes. Then my motherboard blew up 2 months later, taking my videocard and CPU with it . If you don't remember, ATI bought out Voodoo, and got it's hands on the 3dfx license. Most of their software is based off combinations of 3dfx and Direct3D, so alot of old games are much more compatible with ATI cards then Nvidia cards.
