I suppose you could close the port that the advertising's outbound connection runs through, only if it's different than the port used for the gameplay connection.

I believe it only takes information from the service provider, therefore it's not spying on your computer specifically. It's standard procedure by every internet provider to include some way of infering where the location of a client is by contacting a list with all net ranges, comparing, and then finding out what place that ip address it is at.

Therefore it's not spyware if you wrote your name on the contract with your service provider.

I don't remember where I quoted that. Since I didn't write it, there always exists a possibility of error. :P

I don't think it's actually in the EULA, it said it was on a little piece of paper in the box.
